I wrote a children’s book?
I wrote a children’s book yesterday.
Totally unexpected — I’ve never written one before.
On Sunday, driving home from a weekend away, I saw something that sparked an idea. Just two words.
A few hours later, I was walking the dogs, still thinking about those words, and suddenly, there it was.
The whole damn thing.
Beginning, middle, and end.
So I got home and, just as my wife was about to work out (on a Sunday! After a long car trip! Props to her…), I said, “I have an idea. I have to go write it. NOW.”
An hour later, it was done. Then came sketches for an illustrator, a quick polish, and today, it’s finished.
Of course, I still need to find an illustrator and figure out how to get it published (ideas welcome, gang…), but those are problems for tomorrow.
Stories are funny like that.
Some take months to wrestle into shape.
Others arrive fully formed, like lightning from a clear sky.
That’s why we do this.
Because every once in a while…
Boom.
